On the map is marked: Top Sal Pictures - Although Sal is one of the smallest Cape Verde’s islands, its ground is extremely arid and its landscapes seem like lunar deserts, Sal is the most famous Cape Verde Island for two main reasons: the huge amazing beach with limpid blue sea and the international airport. On the map is marked: Sal Beach - Santa Maria beach stretch away into the distance some kilometres along the coastline. This is the best place for water sports, beach volleyball and wind surf. The heart of beach life is near Santa Maria's pier. On the map is marked: Sal Fishermen - Every morning between 10.00 and 11.00 the Santa Maria pier became extremely crowd. Here people meet fishermen in order to buy fish or simply to admire the huge fish, usually yellowfin tuna and sawfish (peixe-serra). On the map is marked: Santa Maria Market Sal - Handicraft Sal's Market is located in the small Village of Santa Maria, the only Sal's village near the sea. This is basically a market with souvenirs for tourists. On the map is marked: Sal Airport - Sal International Airport is located in the middle of the island, few kilometres north from Santa Maria town. On the map is marked: Pedra de Lume Saltwork - Located in the north area of Sal Island, quite close to the airport, Pedra de Lume Salt Works are a jewel, simply an open air museum. They are ancient large saltworks located in the crater of a volcano. On the map is marked: Pedra de L Aerial Tramway - Once salt was carried from salt works to the harbour (pier) by an aerial tramway. Today the aerial tramway doesn't work, it remains only the riuns of the wooden pillars. On the map is marked: Lunar Landscape Sal - In general the island has a lunar landscape with rocks, rocks, rocks, stones and sometimes ground.
