The Bog Village Museum shows how Irish people lived and worked in the 18th Century. It contains an old blacksmith`s forge, turf cutters houses, and other buildings. It is situated half way between Killorglin and Glenbeigh. .. see more
Ireland is famous for stone forts, which are difficult to date, some are thought to be of Iron Age (500BC 400AD) but other aren`t so ancient. Cahergall is particularly beautiful and impressive ring stone fort with massive dry-stone wall, have been recently reconstructed... see more
The circular enclosing wall of Lenacalabuile Stone Fort (built 9th – 10th century) is more than 3 meters thick, and is stepped on the inside. Inside the fort there are the remains of a round house and a square one... see more
Ruins of Ballycarberry Castle are near Caherciveen. It is amusing to explore the castle inside and try to climb the broken stairs... see more

Valentia Island have wonderful viewpoints which allow to see the cliffs of Skellig rings, the rocky island of Micheal Skellig and the nice village of Portmagee. It is a magic place during the sunset... see more

I seldom recommend hotels and restaurants, but I`ve found a very honest place, Portmagee Hostel is a nice and clean hostel near the sea. .. see more
If you`re lucky you can meet the fishermen at the port, they fish blue lobsters and orange spider crabs... see more

Staigue fort is one on the largest and finest stone forts in Ireland, was built in the early centuries AD. Have a circular wall (6 meters high, 4 meters thick, 30 meters diameter). In ancient times there were houses and buildings inside the fort, but no buildings survive today... see more

Ring of Kerry
Il Ring of Kerry è un percorso circolare (170Km) che parte da Killorglin, si snoda lungo le coste della penisola di Iveragh fino a Waterville, poi prosegue verso il parco nazionale di Killarney. Ha molti punti panoramici e regala incredibili paesaggi: coste frastagliate, spiagge, colline verdi con pecore, cavalli e mucche che pascolano... vedi
Il Bog Village Museum mostra come vivevano e lavoravano gli Irlandesi nel 18° secolo. Contiene una vecchia forgia, le casse dei tagliatori di torba e altre costruzioni. E` situato a mezza via tra Killorglin e Glenbeigh. .. vedi
L`Irlanda è famosa per i forti ad anello, è difficile dire con precisione a quando risalgono, alcuni sono dell`Età del Ferro (500ac, 400dc), però altri non sono così antichi. Cahergall è un forte ad anello particolarmente bello e possente, ha un muro di pietre costruito a secco ed è stato recentemente ristrutturato... vedi
Le mura di cinta del forte ad anello di Lenacalabuile (costruito nel 9°-10° secolo) sono spesse più di 3m, e sono percorribili all`interno. Dentro al forte ci sono le rovine di una casa rotonda e un`altra quadrata... vedi
Le rovine del castello di Ballycarberry sono vicino a Caherciveen. E` divertente esplorare il castello dentro e cercare di arrampicarsi sulle scale rotte... vedi

L`isola di Valentia ha dei meravigliosi punti panoramici dai quali si osservano le scogliere dello Skellig rings, l` isola rocciosa di Micheal Skellig e il grazioso villaggio di Portmagee. E` un posto magico durante il tramonto... vedi

Portmagee è un piccolo villaggio sulla costa occidentale del Kerry. Il porto di Portmagee è un punto di partenza per raggiungere l`isola di Skellig Micheal... vedi
Consiglio raramente hotel e ristoranti, ma ho trovato un posticino onesto, Portmagee Hostel è un bel ostello pulito vicino al mare. .. vedi
Se sei fortunato puoi incontrare i pescatori al porto, loro pescano aragoste blu e granceole arancio... vedi

Il forte di Staigue è uno dei forti ad anello più grandi e belli dell`Irlanda, fu costruito nei primi secoli dopo cristo. Ha una muraglia circolare (alta 6m, 4 di spessore, 30 di diametro). Nell`antichità c`erano delle case dentro al forte, ma oggi non è rimasto nulla... vedi
Sneem è un paese nella parte sud del Ring of Kerry, ha le classiche case Irlandesi colorate e il tipico ponte sull`omonimo fiume Sneem... vedi
